Activities at the Center

The NAEYC Technology and Young Children Interest Forum invites you to visit our Technology Resource Center (Room 140 A) at the NAEYC Annual Conference in Washington, DC, December 7 - 10, 2005.

This year, for the first time, the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) will co-host the Technology Resource Center. ISTE is the largest teacher-based, nonprofit organization in the field of educational technology. Its mission is to help K-12 classroom teachers, and the organization is currently interested in becoming more involved in supporting advancements in technology for early education.

Here are some highlights of activities at the Technology Resource Center:

  • Free E-Mail and Internet Access
  • Hourly software demonstrations
  • Opportunities to try software
  • A technology-centric model classroom
  • A Sponsor Focus Zone showcasing sponsors' technology tools

Our annual business meeting will be held on Thursday, December 8th from 5:30 - 7:00. Please join us for refreshments and door prizes as we discuss the future of the Technology and Young Children Interest Forum.

Model Technology Mini-Classroom

Here's an opportunity to take a hands-on test-drive of an array of appropriate software applications in a simulated accessible and ergonomically-correct universal computer center. You'll be able to see, first-hand, what to look for in computer furniture, software, and assistive devices and consult with experts about enhancing the technology center in your program.

In addition, we provide a digital photography and peripheral demo station. With the proliferation of inexpensive digital cameras and printing, there's an explosion of interest in using digital photography to support best practice in early childhood classrooms. Join us in the Digital Photography and Peripheral Station to learn more about how to use a variety of media to document your program.
